Snow

This week, we read The Snowy Day.  After reading the story, we decided what we thought the main idea of the story was. Then we charted the details from the story that supported our thoughts.

In our morning meeting, we welcomed everyone with a snowball fight.  The children wrote their names on the paper, balled it up, and threw the paper balls back and forth.  When the bell rang, we sat in a circle and unrivalled our snowball.  We read the name and told that person, "Good Morning!"

We also brainstormed words that described ice.  The children did a great job coming up with adjectives.  We then took an ice cube and tried to melt it.  The children rolled a die, then had to...
Blow on it.
Drop it.
Shake salt on it.
Put it down your shirt.
Hold it for 10 seconds.
Drop it in water.
